Swedish

Today was the start of third week of school and it also marked the beginning of my third week of learning Swedish. Is there much use for Swedish in my everyday life? Not at all but I have been interested in Scandinavian languages for three or four years now and this is as good a time as any to learn.

So far I know around 160 Swedish words and can form extremely simple sentences (both questions and statements) in present tense. We are using the book Rivstart A1 + A2 as our textbook and I’m pretty sure we’re going to end up either finish the book or come just short of it by the end of the school year. The book moves quickly but I actually, so far, enjoy the speed at which it moves and I like that there is a fair amount of reading material in the book.

Here’s to hoping that this week goes well!

A new month, a new blog

After months of saying that I’d start a new blog I decided to do so. This blog won’t have one primary focus, rather it will be about things that I have done, am doing, or want to do. Don’t be surprised if you see a post about learning Swedish one day and a post about spinning yarn the next.

I’m not going to make any goals about how often I’m going to post just yet. I find that when I set blogging goals they tend to never pan out and I stop blogging. The one exception, so far, to that has been NaBloPoMo (National Blog Posting Month) – once November comes around I’ll see how I feel about participating in it.

With that – we’re off to the races.
